AXIS Q6042 di desain agar kuat terhadap berbagai kondisi yang terjadi pada area sekitar kamera, kamera ini juga memiliki ketahanan terhadap debu dan air. Selain itu kamera ini juga telah di dukung dengan fitur Power over Ethernet Plus (IEEE 802.3at). Secara teknis kamera ini juga dapat mengaktifkan alarm apabila kamera mendeteksi atau terdapat hal yang memicu alarm seperti jika kamera telah di pukul. Bahkan pasa saat terjadi getaran dengan fitur electronic image stabilization, sehingga mampu mengurangi efek getaran pada kamera sehingga kualitas gambar yang ditampilkan akan tetap jelas. AXIS Q6042 juga telah mendukung fitur audio dua arah, deteksi audio, input / output port untuk koneksi ke perangkat eksternal dan daya AC / DC. Kamera ini juga memiliki slot kartu memori built-in untuk penyimpanan rekaman video secara lokal.
